In the Global Studio program, I participated in a study-abroad experience that connected Rhode Island, the United States, and Japan through the lens of design for climate, social, and economic resilience. This program emphasized the importance of intercultural learning in addressing global challenges, blending experiential design with education to create impactful and sustainable futures.
Throughout the course, I engaged in pre-departure activities and guest lectures that prepared me for full cultural immersion in Japan. Once on-site, I collaborated with local community members, conducting interviews, participating in community events, and exploring stories of history and culture. This hands-on experience allowed me to apply experiential design principles in real-world settings, fostering cultural understanding and mutual respect between both countries.
This experience not only enhanced my skills in interdisciplinary collaboration and cultural sensitivity but also positioned me as a leader in promoting sustainable and meaningful connections between Japan and the United States.
